Journeys Beyond Belief

I am more than my physical body. Because I am more than physical matter, I can perceive that which is greater than the physical world. - from the Gateway Affirmation

The three books written by Robert Monroe have changed for the better—are still changing—countless lives. They have offered relief from fear that we may be ill mentally or physically, they have given us a map by which to navigate realms of experience far outside of the conventional; they have provided a perspective on physical life and death that demolishes any substantive barrier between the two. Through his writings Bob has shone a bright light on the reality of life as a continuum. He did this in a way that contemporary minds can easily grasp.

Why We ALL Have Psychic Powers: How Thought Premonitions & Telepathy are More Common Than We Thought

Like many mothers who feared for their family’s safety during World War II, Mona Miller was evacuated from London to the peaceful seaside town of Babbacombe in Devon.
It seemed like a wise precaution but, shortly after her arrival there with her young children, Mrs Miller became increasingly uneasy.
‘I had a feeling that I must leave Devon and return home,’ she told me.
‘At first I dismissed the idea; why leave when I was so happy and contented despite the war going on around me?
‘But the feeling increased. The walls of my room seemed to speak to me: “Go home to London.” I resisted the call for about four months then, one day, like a flash of light, I knew we must leave.

Rupert Sheldrake, one of the world’s most innovative biologists and writers, is best known for his theory of morphic fields and morphic resonance, which leads to a vision of a living, developing universe with its own inherent memory. He worked in developmental biology at Cambridge University, where he was a Fellow of Clare College.

"While [people] are dreaming, they do not perceive that it is a dream. Some will even have a dream in a dream, and only when they awake they know it was all a dream. And so, when the Great Awakening comes upon us, shall we know this life to be a great dream. Fools believe themselves to be awake now. Once upon a time, I, Chuang-Tzu, dreamed I was a butterfly, fluttering hiter and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of following my fancies as a butterfly, and was unconscious of my individually as a butterfly. Suddenly I was awakened, and there I lay myself again. Now I do not know whether I was a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am a butterfly now dreaming I am a man." - Chuang-Tzu

Rethinking Public Eduction

WOW... just WOW - And kudos to the high school valedictorian in the video - have NEVER heard a speech like the one she was courageous enough to give... EVER.

“The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all; it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed a standard citizenry, to put down dissent and originality.” -H.L. Mencken

The Psi Wars Come To TED

"TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader.  This is an organization on a collision course with consciousness research and it was only a matter of time before the war spilled over into their territory.

In this case, the brouhaha started when apparently skeptics by the names of Jerry Coyne and PZ Meyer tried to have a video by parapsychologist Rupert Sheldrake removed from TED talks because they felt he was unscientific.  (Here is the video.) To the Immense credit of TED staff, they opened up the controversy to the public.  Even more to their credit, the staff person who did this, Emily McManus, is an atheist who set aside her personal beliefs to open up the discussion.  A comment section was set up for this topic and the floodgates opened.  (You can find it here.)"

Andy Puddicombe: All it takes is 10 mindful minutes...

"When is the last time you did absolutely nothing for 10 whole minutes? Not texting, talking or even thinking? Mindfulness expert Andy Puddicombe describes the transformative power of doing just that: Refreshing your mind for 10 minutes a day, simply by being mindful and experiencing the present moment. (No need for incense or sitting in strange positions.)"

BASHAR ON REVELATION

B:  "All right, I'll say, how are you all this evening of your time, as you create time to exist?"

AUD:  "Great, perfect, etc..."

"I will also say, Kumbaya. Tenki dasca(?).  (Transcriber's Note: There are Japanese visitors from Tokyo in the audience.)  Let us begin this evening of your time with the idea of revelation.  We have talked about the idea of your levels of awareness, the things that you become cognizant of from time to time.  Those moments of crystalline clarity in which you allow yourselves to perceive for a moment the ideas, the perspectives, the
attitudes, the beliefs, the emotions and the thoughts that you have created yourselves to be on many different levels -- all at once."

I've always loved the following quote, and often wondered how many actually stop for a moment to become aware of the awesomeness in the natural flow of everything around them - no forcing, 'no making it do' of any kind, just an incredible balance and rhythm with such perfect timing when left alone to do its thing.... truly a magical dance to behold ...

The Four Agreements - Don Miguel Ruiz

1. Be Impeccable with Your Word
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

It is very important to understand this agreement, because we use the word to create a complete reality. This reality is only true for us, and not necessarily true for anybody else. Based on this agreement, our personal story could become a heaven or a hell.

2. Don’t Take Things Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

In reality, you are no more than a secondary character in everybody else’s story, just as they are also secondary characters in your story. When they judge you, they are actually judging the secondary character in their story. They do not know you, and believe that you are what they imagine you to be. It works the same for you. When you judge them, you are only judging what you believe they are. Whether or not we are close to other people, we can never truly know them. We can never truly understand the way they think, how they feel, or how they create their own sense of reality.

3. Don't Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

This Agreement has to do with your personal knowledge, and the thoughts generated by this knowledge. Our thoughts are the ones in charge of making assumptions. We think we know. We think, and presume to know. Although some assumptions might be correct, most of them encourage the emotional disturbances that we use to make ourselves needlessly suffer.

4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

This is what turns our imagination into reality. This is how we create all human civilizations. We could have thousands of ideas, but if we do not take action, these ideas will vanish and never become a reality.

By practicing The Four Agreements, we find the truth of ourselves. By transforming old habits, we can accept ourselves unconditionally. We can recover our confidence. We can rediscover our inner beauty and our self-love.

Further to the post included below, regarding the discussion on meditation between Peter Russell and Eckhart Tolle, I found Peter's 'no technique' explanation very similar in how I experienced an extremely strong emotion the other day. Feeling a tremendous surge of anger due to the actions of another person, I suddenly, in the midst of feeling all this emotion, decided to let go of the story, and dive right into the actual feeling of it with no judgement, just observing as it flowed thru my body. It was truly a cathartic experience in that, to my total surprise, this supposedly 'negative' feeling just naturally left my body in a very short period of time, much less than, I'm convinced, would have had I continued to buy into the story, in addition to laying judgement of how I shouldn't be feeling this way.

This experience was beyond liberating, and I realized that the old adage 'What you resist, persists' is a truly telling statement - one that if sincerely practiced, can have a HUGE impact on our own personal evolutionary development as we traverse through this physical sojourn.

IADC® Therapy with Dr. Allan L. Botkin, Psy.D.

"Psychotherapists today are consistently helping grieving people experience a reconnection with someone who has passed away, resulting in healing deep sadness associated with grief. The method of inducing this experience, called “induced after-death communication” or IADC®, was discovered in 1995 by Dr. Allan L. Botkin, Psy.D." Continue Here

BIOS URN

"How would you like to grow into a tree after you die?

This is a Bios Urn, a completely biodegradable urn that contains a single tree seed. When planted, the tree seed is nourished by and absorbs the nutrients from the ashes. The urn itself is made from coconut shell and contains compacted peat and cellulose. The ashes are mixed with this, and the seed placed inside. You can even choose which type of tree you'd like to grow!

So which would you prefer; leaving behind a tree or a tombstone?"

WHY BAD SCIENCE IS LIKE BAD RELIGION

Dr. Rupert Sheldrake - Biologist & Author

"In both religion and science, some people are dishonest, exploitative, incompetent and exhibit other human failings. My concern here is with the bigger picture.

I have been a scientist for more than 40 years, having studied at Cambridge and Harvard. I researched and taught at Cambridge University, was a research fellow of the Royal Society, and have more than 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals. I am strongly pro-science. But I am more and more convinced that that the spirit of free inquiry is being repressed within the scientific community by fear-based conformity. Institutional science is being crippled by dogmas and taboos. Increasingly expensive research is yielding diminishing returns."

"That a million smart people say "yes" is not a good reason for you to say "yes" if you do not have the experience and understanding to support it. Determining truth is not a democratic process ruled by the majority. It is also not something that someone else can do for you. Do not let these smart people sway you to agree with them simply because they are smart."

Who Knew?

FINALLY made the decision to set all the stories aside of why I shouldn't (or couldn't) totally, completely, unequivocally, etc., etc., put all my 'play' into what my passion TRULY is (and has been all along), fully immersing myself in it - what a difference it's made (holy s@#t - SUCH an understatement!). Things really do fall into place (presenting/appearing in ways that seem uncannily miraculous?), when one actually stops being luke warm about what really turns their crank...who knew??

Bashar on Manifestation, Money, State of Being

Bashar, in his usual enigmatic way, shares his wisdom regarding a few of humanity's beliefs of which we've come to firmly accept as our most basic, fundamental truths. In addition to being extremely insightful, his message can't help but provide one with a sense of complete liberation from societal dogma, to say the least...

Placebo: Cracking the Code

'It’s a nod to changing attitudes in Western medicine, and a direct result of the small but growing group of researchers like Kaptchuk who study not if, but how, placebo effects work. Explanations for the phenomenon come from fields across the scientific map—clinical science, psychology, anthropology, biology, social economics, neuroscience. Disregarding the knowledge that placebo treatments can affect certain ailments, Kaptchuk says, “is like ignoring a huge chunk of healthcare.” As caregivers, “we should be using every tool in the box.”'
